The FoW Committee had its second online meeting this last Thursday and we are getting used to the different meeting disciplines. A few points worth passing on from a fairly short meeting:

  • In the absence of an AGM anytime soon we did have a look at the draft accounts to make sure we’re not spending money we don’t have in the bank. The finances are satisfactory and allow us to carry out our normal activities. There will be a membership renewal reminder before long. When it comes, why not go for the five-year option at £5: it saves us admin and it saves you having to remember every year!
  • We are quietly pleased with how our community has responded to the Covid-19 emergency. Our valued volunteers have been and continue to be active, helping our neighbours where they need support. If you do know of anyone who for some reason is not getting that support, please draw it to our attention.
  • The launch of the Sunflower Competition is imminent; seeds have arrived, we are waiting for envelopes to be stuffed and you should receive this through 600 local letterboxes around the weekend after next. There will be several prizes – tallest, prettiest, best head – and we are talking about how best to mark the prize giving: sunflower walk, presentation party, any ideas? Septemberish, depending on restrictions in place at the time.
  • For the time being we’ll carry on meeting to a monthly schedule but with online meetings these can be arranged at short notice should circumstances require.

As always, best wishes and stay well!
